Nieuw Queer Symbool
Al jaren is het regenboogpad bij het Centraal Station een representatie van de LGBTQIA+ gemeenschap van Den Bosch. Maar lange tijd waren de kleuren vervaagd en was het figuurlijk regenboogpleisters plakken. Dus tijd voor een nieuw symbool!

Een nieuw queer symbool
Het regenboogpad is een herkenbaar symbool voor de regenbooggemeenschap. Dat het pad er al die jaren verwaarloosd bij ligt is pijnlijk. Afgelopen maart kreeg deze weer een likje verf, maar dit is een tijdelijke oplossing. De verf laat snel los en het is niet duurzaam om het pad elk jaar over te schilderen. Een mooie kans om iets nieuws te bedenken!
In het kader van regenboogbeleid werkt de Academie voor Beeldvorming in 2024 samen met Gemeente ‘s-Hertogenbosch aan een steviger netwerk en een een visie op de toekomst. De zoektocht naar een alternatief voor het regenboogpad is hier een onderdeel van.

A new queer symbol
For years, the rainbow crosswalk at the Central Station has been a representation of the LGBTQIA+ community of Den Bosch. But for a long time the colors were faded and it was figuratively like using rainbow bandaids on the community. So it’s time for a new symbol!
In the context of queer policy, the Academie voor Beeldvorming works together with the Municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2024 to create a more robust network and a vision of the future. The search for an alternative queer symbol is part of this collaboration.
The rainbow path is a recognizable symbol for the rainbow community. It is painful that the path has been neglected for a lot of years. Last March it received a new paintjob, but this is only a temporary solution. The paint peels off quickly and it’s not sustainable to repaint the path every year. This gives a great opportunity to come up with something new!
